Des(1-3)IGF-1 - truncated brain/gut form of IGF-1 lacking first 3 N-terminal residues. 10x higher potency than native IGF-1; low IGFBP affinity. Key compound for local IGF-1 receptor research.
Des(1-3)IGF-1 (IGF-DES) is a naturally occurring truncated form of IGF-1 produced by N-terminal proteolysis, resulting in deletion of the first three residues (Gly-Pro-Glu). This truncation significantly reduces binding to IGF binding proteins while increasing receptor binding potency approximately 10-fold compared to native IGF-1. Des-IGF-1 is found in human brain and intestinal tissue.
