28-amino acid neuropeptide/hormone with broad anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective activity via VPAC1/VPAC2 receptors. Key compound for autonomic nervous system, immune modulation, and circadian rhythm research.
Vasoactive Intestinal Peptide (VIP) is a 28-amino acid neuropeptide belonging to the secretin/glucagon superfamily, widely distributed in the central and peripheral nervous system, gastrointestinal tract, and immune cells. VIP signals through two G-protein coupled receptors, VPAC1 and VPAC2, coupled to adenylyl cyclase/cAMP/PKA pathways. In preclinical research, VIP has demonstrated potent anti-inflammatory activity via suppression of pro-inflammatory cytokines (TNF-alpha, IL-6, IL-12) and upregulation of IL-10 and TGF-beta.
